Driving Welding & Fabrication Excellence Through Engineering, Quality & Manufacturing Support

Mohamed Amer

A Passion for Excellence in Aerospace Welding & Fabrication Operations

My name is Mohamed Amer, and my journey in the aerospace and defense manufacturing industry began more than 12 years ago — not in an office, but right on the shop floor.

I started my career as a CNC operator at one of the most respected aerospace welding and machining companies in the United States — Lynn Welding. It was there that I learned the true meaning of precision, discipline, and quality at the highest level. Every part I worked on and every setup I performed strengthened my passion for manufacturing excellence and shaped the foundation of my career.

Building a Foundation in Quality & Inspection

After gaining experience in machining, I transitioned into inspection and quality control. During this time, I learned dimensional and visual inspection techniques for precision-welded and machined aerospace assemblies, working with tolerances as tight as ±.001 inches. This experience gave me a deep appreciation for attention to detail and the importance of delivering quality outputs every single time.

Advancing into Welding Engineering

I then moved into quality engineering and aerospace welding, where I expanded my knowledge of AWS specifications and aerospace requirements. My passion for welding grew stronger every day as I developed expertise in the industry’s most critical standards, including:

  • AWS D17.1 / D17.2 – Aerospace fusion and resistance welding
  • AWS C3.4 – Torch brazing
  • AWS D1.1 / D1.2 / D1.6 – Structural steel and aluminum welding codes

I worked extensively on complex welded assemblies, from design and fixturing to setup, welding, machining, and final assembly. I also managed multiple projects involving outside processes such as non-destructive testing (NDT), heat treatment, and finishing operations — ensuring every step met strict aerospace specifications.

Process Optimization & Advanced Education

My journey continued as I transitioned into production control, where I applied my hands-on experience to optimize manufacturing processes and enhance quality outputs. While working full-time, I earned my Master’s Degree in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma from Central Connecticut State University in 2014.

This period strengthened my ability to manage complex projects, streamline operations, and deliver process improvements using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. Working closely with multiple aerospace customers also helped me develop a deeper understanding of diverse specifications and compliance requirements across the industry.

Building Relationships & Driving Growth

I later moved into the sales and business development department, where I had the opportunity to work directly with aerospace primes and tier-one and tier-two suppliers. I attended trade shows and industry events, connecting with decision-makers, understanding client needs, and forming strong relationships with some of the biggest names in aerospace, including:

Boeing • Lockheed Martin • Sikorsky • Gulfstream • GE Aviation • Pratt & Whitney • Rolls Royce • Collins Aerospace • RTX • Beechcraft • Textron • General Dynamics • Electric Boat • ULA • Westinghouse • Bombardier • SpaceX • NASA

This exposure gave me a broad perspective on the complex requirements and high expectations of today’s aerospace and defense manufacturing ecosystem.

Leadership & Delivering Excellence

Eventually, I stepped into the role of General Manager, where I had the privilege of leading teams and shaping company strategy. My focus was on building strong teams, empowering employees, and ensuring we delivered top-quality products and services that met the rigorous demands of the aerospace industry.

My Mission Today

Over the years, I’ve gained hands-on expertise in welding, fabrication, machining, quality engineering, and production management. Through my experience as both a NADCAP auditee and an auditor, I’ve developed a deep understanding of what it takes to achieve and maintain compliance while delivering excellence.

My goal at Amer Welding Solutions:

To help aerospace and defense manufacturers succeed by providing solutions that meet — and exceed — industry standards and optimize performance.

For me, it’s not just about meeting specifications; it’s about having the passion and commitment to help companies perform at their absolute best.
